Jamie Foxx says he was in a coma, ‘on the brink of death’ during mysterious life scare: insider

Jamie Foxx will be talking about his mysterious life scare from last year in his upcoming special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…”

The Netflix special, filmed in Atlanta in October, featured a live audience. One member of the audience, Demecos Chambers, told Fox News Digital Foxx the medical scare that headlines in April 2023 was a serious condition.

Chambers said Foxx explained that he was “about to die” after suffering seizures and coma that lasted several weeks.

“His health was deteriorating, as Jamie was about to die. His health was low. Everything was going downhill. It got to the point where the doctors and everybody was telling the family, ‘Look, he might have made it out of this,'” Chambers told Fox News Digital.

At the time of the medical scare, Foxx was in Georgia working with Cameron Diaz on the upcoming Netflix movie, “Back in Action.”

“It was life-threatening, and it had nothing to do with drugs. And it was serious. I don’t want to spoil it for everybody, but I want to say that it was something, he actually talked about. an experience when he was working in Atlanta, he passed out, he woke up and he thought, ‘Oh, it’s just me, you know, I black out or just black out for a minute and wake up.’

“But it’s like waking up in a hospital bed … like, ‘Wow, I’ve got to be here for a few hours.’ They were like, ‘No Jamie, you’ve been here for weeks,'” Chambers said.

“Her health was deteriorating, as Jamie was about to die. Her health was low. Everything was going downhill. It got to the point where the doctors and everybody were telling the family, ‘Look, it might have made it out of this.’

Chambers said one of Foxx’s daughters visited Foxx while he was unconscious and played his guitar. The actor is the father of Corinne and Anelise.

“Until the time came, his daughter started entering the hospital and played this song on her guitar. It’s like this song that she likes between him and her.

“And since he started doing that, his vitals and everything started to improve while we were in a coma. So, the doctors can’t explain. No one can explain what’s going on. And the daughter doesn’t really know. [of] what’s going on He is just there to support his father in a way that he knows is right. And then, they say that the more she plays, the more she starts to recover from this boredom until she finally wakes up,” said Chambers, without revealing which daughter she was talking about.

Chambers said Foxx told the audience that doctors told him he had a “30% chance of survival.” Chambers also shared that Foxx brought out the medical and rehab staff at the end of the show.

Chambers described a now-deleted selfie Foxx uploaded to social media while in the hospital. According to an attendee, Foxx uploaded a “pale” selfie to reassure fans that he was okay.

“So, he decided, when he was drugged up in the hospital, he decided to go into the hospital bathroom and take a selfie,” Chambers said.

“So, you post a selfie. You look really pale. You know, you’re on all these drugs and everything, and you post it online, like, ‘Hey guys, I’m fine.’ And he looks like a very pale version of himself, and everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, they put Jamie Fox together now,'” he joked.

While Foxx recounts a serious medical scare, Chambers noted that some of the Netflix specials are funny.

“So, you talk about that story. So everything is like it’s a story from the heart, very serious, very funny. But, at the same time, it shows how even the life of a comedian can be,” he said.

Netflix has no comment on Fox News Digital. Representatives for Foxx did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In October, Foxx took the stage for the first time from the fear of his life on “One Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx.”

The Oscar-winning actor spoke to worried fans in July outside a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, where he tried to offer answers about what happened when he had a “medical crisis.”

“Look, on April 11th last year, a headache, my boy asked for Advil,” Foxx said before snapping his fingers. “I went for 20 days.

“I don’t remember anything,” Jamie told fans at the restaurant. “So they told me – I’m in Atlanta – they told me, my sister and my daughter, they took me to the first doctor and they said … ‘Nah,’ he gave me a cortisone shot.

“The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on there.’ I’m not going to say it on camera, I’m not going to say it on camera,” Foxx said, nodding his head thoughtfully.

Corinne Foxx revealed on April 12, 2023, that her father was recovering from a medical problem.

“Fortunately, thanks to quick action and great care, he is on the road to recovery,” he wrote on social media at the time. “We know how much you are loved and appreciate your prayers. The family requests privacy at this time.”
