Shakur Stevenson’s promoter Eddie Hearn says they offered Muratalla $3 million to fight on February 22nd.
WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, says they offered “seven figures” to Raymond Muratalla, but he wanted $3 million to fight him on February 22.
So, instead of using the undefeated #2 ranked Muratalla in the WBC (22-0, 17 KOs), Hearn signed Floyd Schofield to face Shakur on the Riyadh Season card on February 22nd.
The boxing community is unhappy with the pick, feeling that the 22-year-old Schofield has no chance against Shakur. Another example of the New Jersey native picking an opponent to beat and end up living is a big pay day against Gervonta Davis in 2025.
“We made a big offer to Muratalla. He asked for $3 million [to fight Shakur Stevesnon],” said Eddie Hearn on KO Artist Sports about Raymond Muratalla seeking $3M to fight WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson on February 22nd.
“People don’t see this. Ratalla, who is on Top Rank, asked for $3 million to fight Shakur. We made them a seven-figure offer, more than seven figures to fight him. Nobody wants to fight Shakur. That’s why I say to Floyd Schofield, well done. Go and be great.
“Shakur is our guy; I believe you win, but listen. You have a chance. That’s what it’s all about,” Hearn said.
