Porsche has stuck with gas cars for a long time
Porsche isn’t ready to open its gas hatches to charge ports just yet. The company is reportedly planning to introduce other types of internal combustion engines due to declining EV sales, according to Cars News Europe. The automaker’s CFO, Lutz Meschke, told the outlet, “What’s clear is that we’re holding on to a burning engine for a long time.”
As Car and Driver notes, he also said there is a “clear trend in the premium luxury segment” that relies on gas engines, and as a result, Porsche will “respond” to its product cycle.
Porsche previously aimed for 80 percent of its sales to be electric models by 2030. The company pushed the RWD Macan and redesigned the Taycan this year as its EV sales tanked in the US, and it’s not doing very well in China, where the products are domestic. they make cheap EVs.
