Now you can earn hotel points and top benefits with Chase Travel’s The Edit

Great news for Chase cardholders: Chase Travel℠’s premium cardholder platform, The Edit, now lets you earn hotel points and premium benefits in addition to earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points. This double-dipping feature can help you maximize your rewards, but it only works on certain Chase cards and properties (for now).

Here’s everything you need to know about Chase Travel’s exciting new feature.

Earn hotel points when you book with The Edit by Chase Travel

The Chase Travel Portal is an essential tool for anyone with an eligible Chase card, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

If you hold an eligible Chase card, you can also access The Edit by Chase Travel, Chase’s luxury hotel platform (note that The Edit is not available for Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders.). Hotel bookings through The Edit offer complimentary benefits such as complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, late check-out and up to $100 in resort credit.

But the downside to using Chase Travel and The Edit is that you typically won’t earn hotel points or eligible night credits toward higher status in the hotel’s loyalty program.

The good news: This seems to be changing. Now, Chase cardholders with access to The Edit can have their cake and eat it at select locations. We have seen examples of this in several popular hotels, including Accor, Hyatt, IHG and Marriott.

When searching for hotels on Chase Travel, look for a banner below the hotel name and ratings that say something like “Marriott Bonvoy eligible” or “One IHG Rewards eligible.”

There is currently no way to filter your search results for award-eligible hotels. However, many award-worthy hotels are in The Hlela, and Hlela hotels often rise to the top of the list.

When you click on each hotel to select your room, you’ll see another banner on the right that shows you can earn rewards at both the hotel and Chase.

Another benefit is that you can earn hotel rewards whether you pay for your stay in cash or use Chase Ultimate Rewards points. So even if you don’t spend a dime, you’ll earn hotel points and special night credits toward your next status level. Be sure to include your hotel loyalty number when booking.

Enjoy elite benefits when you book with Chase Travel

Historically, stays booked through Chase Travel were also not eligible for higher benefits. If you booked a Hyatt property through the platform, for example, you wouldn’t get any premium benefits — even if you were a top-tier Globalist member with World of Hyatt.

Now, you can not only earn your way to status with certain hotels on Chase Travel but also access any top benefits you have with that hotel. And if the hotel is in The Edit, you can still take advantage of Chase-like benefits. This double dipping of elite benefits can be very valuable.

This feature is available to all Chase cardholders, but the features vary depending on which card you have. If you don’t have access to Planning, you may see some award-worthy properties (including Omni), but you won’t see the big names like Hyatt, IHG or Marriott.

If you have access to The Edit with the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you’ll have many more options for where you can earn hotel rewards.

If you’re a United cardholder, you can take advantage of elite benefits like The Edit when you book through the old Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection website, but you won’t be able to earn hotel rewards at most destinations.

Bottom line

When you book hotels with Chase Travel, you already earn bonus Ultimate Rewards points (5 or 10 points per dollar, depending on which Chase card you hold). With this new feature, you can also earn hotel points and higher benefits in your favorite loyalty program. You may even get bonus rewards if you take advantage of the hotel’s current promotion.
