Rajon Rondo has won championships with two of the NBA’s most iconic franchises – the Lakers in 2020 and the Celtics in 2008, but he recently revealed why the LA ring means so much to him.
“You can’t really compare it,” Rondo told Warriors forward Draymond Green on The Draymond Green Show. “Because in 2020, we were in the bubble so we didn’t get a show. So, I only had one parade and it was the most amazing thing that happened to me in basketball. Just that kind of love and response.
“Seeing the fans, you’ve seen it this year but to be a part of it, to get on a duck boat, go on a trip, it was amazing,” Rondo added. “That was the only chance I got to have a show. But then when I won in 2020, my son was in the Bubble with me… that was very special. “
Rajon went on to explain why the bubble had its advantages that the Lakers used. There was only hooping and not much else.
“I enjoyed the Bubble because you get to see a guy every day you pass by,” said Rondo. “You see the enemy and there are no distractions. No outings, no hotel flights, everyone in the same room, no excuses. Test ball… No benefits. It’s my top five versus your top five and you’ve got it. “
He continued, “Obviously you have seven shows to see, but I like the idea of going straight to the room, and then we’re going to record.” We were able to learn a lot in that time I would say if we were able to go home, practice, have other distractions, not think about the game, but in Bubble, that’s all you think about.”
Many people have given the Lakers a fair amount of criticism regarding the 2020 chip, saying it wasn’t a ‘real championship’ due to the circumstances, however some in the NBA community say it was a harder year to win than any other.
