Dax Shepard Catches Fans Trying to Identify Him and Kristen Bell
Dax Shepard shared the wonderful journey that was a group of fans trying to identify him and his wife, Kristen Bell.
Shepard, 49, recalled the experience in a series of photos and videos posted on Instagram on Thursday, November 21. Parenthood alum and Bell, 44, recently sat behind some curious audiences who couldn’t quite put their finger on the celebrity couple’s identity, leading one fan to search the Internet high and low for clues.
“This trip has been crazy fun to witness,” Shepard captioned the post. “Due to time, this has been cut down a lot, but rest assured that this search that started with the standard search ‘Romance Movies’ took these lovely ladies 13 minutes to refine. They were strong and stuck to it, and by God, in the end [figured] why the people behind us were happy Kristen was there. Only to get the biggest payout of all time!!! Love, *Dak.”
In another clip, the woman in question can be seen scrolling through the “Romantic Movies” section of Netflix on her phone, followed by another scroll through a Google search for “popular shows on Netflix.” Another video showed the woman watching an episode of Netflix until she came across the critically acclaimed comedy series Bell, Nobody Wants This.
The coup de grace came in Shepard’s final image: a snapshot of a woman’s text conversation with someone who gleefully got the podcaster’s name “Armchair Expert” wrong.
“OMG!! We’re sitting in front of Zach Shepherd and Kristen Bell!!!!” read the text to a woman in the audience, someone said, “Dak*. But that’s great.”
Shepard and Bell’s fans couldn’t get enough of the (somewhat) wrongful acquaintance, with one social media user writing, “The Zach to Dak fix cracks me up.” Another said, “I love that he never thought you might be able to see his phone. The light is up to 11, three feet away.”
Although the woman finally found out who Shepard and Bell are, it is not the first time that Shepard’s identity has been questioned. During the 2019 interview on Sunday TODAY with Willie GeistBell admitted she had “no idea” who Shepard was when they first met in 2007.
“The producer of I forgot Sarah Marshall, Shauna Robertsonwho Judd ApatowA former production partner, he had a birthday dinner — like 10 people, maybe less, at a sushi restaurant,” he recalled at the time. “And I had just gotten out of a long-term relationship, like, two months before. And looking back, I can see that he was just getting out of a long relationship.”
He continued, “We were sitting at the table. The only thing I remember is that he talked a lot. This boy can talk. And of course I didn’t know who he was. I’m like, ‘Is that one of the guys from Jackass or something?’ … Then we left. There were no sparks.”
The two finally crossed paths two weeks later at a hockey game, and Shepard’s bold move of asking their mutual friend Bell for her number and texting her proved to be the right one.
“He’s brave and that was my type of person,” he added. “I was like, okay, I’m starting it with a good joke that makes me feel, like butterflies. I fell in love with him before he fell in love with me.”
The longtime couple tied the knot in a courtroom ceremony in 2013 and share two daughters together: Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9.
