The best gifts for tourists every time

What is the best gift you can get someone? Why, a gift to go, of course. The next best thing is something to enhance the travel experience. As fun and enlightening as seeing new places is, every part of getting there can detract from the overall experience, especially for those who find themselves traveling a lot for work.

That’s the camp I fall into, and because of that, I’ve been curating a selection of gadgets that help make the process of getting from point A to B a little less difficult. Everything listed below is something I use and will happily recommend to anyone who buys it.

Apple AirTag – $29; 4 for $99

AirTags and Find My have rewired my brain to a degree that is probably unhealthy. Whenever I misplace something now, my first thought is to find my phone. Sadly, the technology isn’t everywhere – yet.

Still, these little watch battery-powered accessories bring a lot of peace of mind when it comes to keeping track of your essentials. Attach an AirTag to your luggage, and that’s one less thing to worry about while traveling.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra – $429

The latest (and most expensive) in Bose’s favorite travel headphone line, it looks, sounds, and feels great. As far as travel companions go, you can’t beat the QuietComfort Ultra.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch M3 — $1,099

If you really want to treat someone this year, the current MacBook Air is the perfect travel companion. In fact, the Air is the best laptop Apple has ever made. Another thing I’m hesitant to recommend for the holidays is that Apple hasn’t released an M4 version of the device yet. The truth is, though, the M3 is more than enough for most. Heck, even the M2 version — which starts at $999 — is fully capable of using Apple’s new AI.

Native Union Voyage 2 Charger – $100

This multi-functional and ultra-thin mini charger can carry your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch. For those who enjoy the freedom of checking in without checking luggage, the accessories don’t get much smaller than the Voyage 2. At $100, the price is perhaps steep, but that’s not the whole point of giving gifts to get something. someone they couldn’t find for themselves?

Nintendo Switch Lite – $199

With Nintendo set to announce its latest console next year, the 2024 holiday season could bring deep discounts on products that are getting a little longer in the birds. In fact, the portable Switch Lite alone has already been shaved about 10% off its price on places like Amazon.

Ozlo Sleepbuds – $299

I featured these earbuds in last year’s guide, even though they weren’t out yet. The hardware is difficult, and the launch was pushed back several times. Now the Ozlo Sleepbuds are here, and I’m happy to feature them again. I’m not the sleepy type, but these buds woke me up like a light bulb. I plan to take them on all future trips.

Kindle Paperwhite – $160

Colorsoft is a fun newbie, but I can’t yet recommend it over Amazon’s tried-and-true Paperwhite. It’s a bestseller for good reason, and recent improvements bring faster page turns and more storage.
