Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave’s Divorce ‘It Was a Long Time’

Teddy Mellencamp she was in a rocky place with her husband who did not separate from her, Edwin Arroyavebefore filing for divorce.

“It’s been a long time coming and they’ve been going up and down for seven years and more,” a source close to him said The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, tells exclusively Us Weekly. “It’s not the first time Teddi wants a divorce, and it’s been a conversation between them for years.”

The insider notes that the now-elderly couple “have been in therapy for years and have made it work,” adding, “They’ve had their ups and downs during their marriage.” In the end, “They agreed that they were better co-parents and could move forward amicably,” the source said.

Mellencamp announced via Instagram on Saturday, November 2, that she has made the “difficult decision to file for divorce” from Arroyave, 47, after 13 years of marriage. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken for their privacy and well-being throughout this new chapter.”

He continued: “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from unnecessary speculation and rumours, I feel comfortable, honest and vulnerable is the best way forward.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave married in 2011 and share children Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 4. Arroyave welcomed her oldest daughter, Isabella, from a previous marriage. Arroyave praised her now-ex in a sweet Instagram post one week before she announced she was filing for divorce.

“I always say that life and pain are inseparable. And seeing @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greatest good again last night as she hosted the @curemelanoma gala, was a great reminder of what she’s capable of,” she wrote alongside photos of herself with Mellencamp – who spoke about her battle with skin cancer – at the Cure Melanoma Gala in New York City on October 25. “His story has saved lives. And I couldn’t be prouder that he will continue to save more. I love you, Teds. So much so that I missed the Rams game being there 🤣).”

Mellencamp’s divorce papers, filed on Friday, November 1, and received by Usrevealed that the two had split before attending the NYC event – their split date was listed as October 20.

Arroyave has not spoken publicly about the divorce, but has posted a photo of himself taking the couple’s children to church. She also posted various Bible verses about parenting on her Instagram Story.

Mellencamp, meanwhile, was spotted wearing her wedding ring just hours after she posted her divorce announcement online. She talked about her breakup on Tuesday, November 5, in her episode Tamra Judge‘s “Two Ts in a Pod”, saying, “I’m fine.”

Focusing on the future, she continued: “I know that I will continue to work to feel the best I can to show the best to my children and my life and my career. I think that’s a big thing for me right now.”
