Two workers were trapped as a bridge under construction under a railway project collapsed in Gujarat’s Anand
In an unfortunate incident, a bridge under construction for a bullet train project in Gujarat’s Anand district collapsed on Tuesday. According to officials, one of the three workers who were trapped under the debris has been rescued and is being treated at the hospital.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited said, “This evening in the Mahi river, in the area where the bullet train is being built, three workers were trapped between concrete blocks. Hospital.”
Anand police and fire brigade have reached the spot and the rescue operation is going on.
The bridge is part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, a 508-kilometer tunnel that aims to revolutionize high-speed rail travel in India by connecting the country’s two biggest economic hubs with a top speed of 320 km/h.
After the tunnel is completed, the distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be reduced to about two hours, down from the current six-hour journey by regular rail.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) is a visionary project of the government that will usher in a new era of safety, speed and public service and help Indian Railways become an international leader in terms of quality, speed and efficiency.
The MAHSR project is passing through the high growth states of Gujarat and Maharashtra connecting the business centers of Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. The approved cost of the MAHSR project is Rs 1,08,000 crore.
