Great creators and producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate again Shannon Burke it was revealed on Monday, November 4, that Netflix has renewed the teen series for a fifth and final season. The trio confirmed the news with a letter titled “Dispatch to all Pogues”, shared via Instagram.
“Seven years ago, in the summer of 2017, we came across a picture of young people on the beach at dusk when the electricity went out. That image sparked the idea of a story about four best friends who just want to have fun all the time,” the book began. “From this we begin to imagine a mystery that will lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting and friendship.”
The trio noted that at the time, they felt it was “impossible” that the show would continue to tell the story for five seasons, noting that season 4 was “very long and very difficult” but also “very rewarding” to produce. In a letter on Monday, the Pate brothers and Burke revealed that the season 4 finale will be a “feature-length episode” they believe Foreign Banks’ “a very good, very powerful episode” however, noting, “We hope you feel the same way.”
The co-creators then moved on to what lies ahead for the series: “Now, with a little sadness, but also with excitement, we put season four behind us and turn to Season Five, where we hope to bring back our beloved Pogues. home the way we thought and planned it years ago.”
The book ended by confirming that season 5 will be their last – and hopefully their “best” season – of all. “We hope you will join us for another paddle and go on a surfing vacation,” they concluded.
The letter was signed “P4L,” which stands for “Pogues For Life.”
Soon after the news broke, Chase Stokeswho plays John B. in the series, took to social media to talk to fans. “My heart aches for writing this.
