Small Machines

Tiny Circuits started these projects on Kickstarter a few years ago, and offers an even smaller TV, the TinyTV Mini ($60), with an even thinner 0.6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 64 x 64 pixels, but I think it is very much so. small. TinyTV 2 has a great design and is as small as anyone should go.

I also tried the Thumby ($28), a key-sized GameBoy with five playable retro games like Pong again A snake. It’s amazing that this little thing works at all, but it’s so hard to play. However, I love that Small Regions offers a browser code editor (using Python), so you can create your own games.

No one requirements 1-inch TV, but it’s surprisingly suitable for artists, diorama makers, and even dollhouses. TinyTV 2 may be cute, but the combination of wondering how small it is and the nostalgic light it gives makes this my favorite desk decoration. And now I can watch TV under the covers at night without bothering my wife.
