Although it couldn’t really hold a candle to the beauty of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi It remains one of the best sci-fi films ever made. For fans of this final entry in the Original Trilogy, there’s always something new to discover, especially if you go to YouTube (the next best thing to the Jedi Archives) and look at the movie’s deleted scenes. Case in point: the deleted scene has several lines from the Mon Calamari pilot (Ika Sulko) that would make all kinds of jokes, including saying “fried calamari tonight” as a battle cry.
Fried Calamari Tonight!
What is interesting about these Return of the Jedi the deleted scenes are ridiculously bad…more like behind-the-scenes footage than just going back to the movie with a fan edit. For example, in the clips, you can actually hear director Richard Marquand feeding silly lines to Tim Rose, the voice and producer of the pilot Mon Calamari. While “fried calamari tonight” is the most common in the line, there are others who threaten to turn these immigrants into a punchline.
For example, one of the lines you can hear in this has been removed Return of the Jedi videos that say “all this technology and no men’s room.” While we can only guess at the motivation behind this ridiculous line, it’s likely a humorous nod to fans who constantly wonder where the bathroom is in their favorite sci-fi shows.
Just ask your casual Star Trek fan who has pored over various blueprints and technical manuals to discover that, indeed, the bathroom is on the bridge of the Enterprise-D The Next Generation.
Some of them Return of the Jedi the lines are just silly, including “I wish I could stop dripping.” One of the weirdest lines from the Mon Calamari pilot is “boys freak these people out.” Although intended as a joke, this would no doubt work in the universe as we found out that people in a galaxy far, far away are often racist towards aliens and even droids (“we don’t work for their kind here!”).

Many of these “meta” pieces are cut from Return of the Jedi The dialogue is one that refers to the Maker himself, George Lucas. At one point, pilot Ilka Sulko says, “I’m finally flying Lucas Air!” Enhancing all of this line delivery is the crazy movement from the Mon Calamari pilot, which adds a kind of body language to the already very funny dialogue.
Many Deleted Scenes Where
After all, the story of these deleted scenes is almost more interesting than Return of the Jedi itself. Fans discovered this strange video in 2011 during the Comic-Con International preview of the Star Wars: The Saga Complete Blu-Ray Set. All that being said, Ika Sulko still plays a big role Return of the Jedi despite his character never appearing on screen. You see, Tim Rose used the same Mon Calamari doll to bring Admiral Ackbar to life. The delivery of this character’s line “it’s a trap!” it made him a legendary Star Wars meme, but if this pilot video had made it to film, fans would have spent the last forty years making “fried calamari tonight” jokes.
