Dwyane Wade’s photo was unveiled this week and it’s safe to say the reaction has been overwhelming and now the great Charles Barkley has his say.
Like the rest of the internet, Barkley thinks the face in the photo is ugly and doesn’t reflect Heat legend D-Wade at all.
“It’s a great honor but they have to put that thing down,” said Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson. Inside the NBA on TNT. “If you made a bad statue it would look like that. That thing is very bad.”
Barkley added, “That was after seeing this picture right there. That’s the face they made after that [he saw it].”
The Suns legend couldn’t help but take another slight twist on the image during a banter with his teammates.
“Hey, Kenny, that picture was so bad they had to put all his figures behind it so you’d know who it was,” Chuck said.

Smith then gave props to the bronze sculptors, Omri Amrany and Oscar León of the Rotblatt Amrany Studio.
The two had to defend the work when the model was unveiled on Monday.
“I couldn’t have done better than that,” Amrany said of any negative reaction to the artwork, via Will Manso. “I don’t think anyone else can do better than that. It is what it is, and we will love you forever.”
Manso also wrote on Twitter, “And they added that Dwyane loves it. But you can’t tell people on the internet that because it’s all criticism. I talked to a bunch of fans here today and they love it. Taking pictures. Time will change the perception. “
Wade himself had to defend this image over and over again.
“I care, but I don’t care,” said Wade. “Social media is about ideas. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone, use your ideas. Please talk more about us. Talk more about the statue, come down and see it, take pictures, send memes. We don’t care.”
