US GDP grew 2.8% in the third quarter, slower than expected
The US economy grew more slowly than expected in the third quarter amid rising inflation and strong consumer spending.
The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis released its first estimate of third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP), which found that the US economy grew at an annual rate of 2.8% in the third quarter, which runs from July to September.
Economists polled by LSEG had expected the economy to grow by 3% in the quarter.
