Squid game The series will be Fincher’s next project, starting in 2025. Deadline also pointed out that Fincher is a good fit for the burgeoning franchise—which has expanded into video games and an unscripted competition series since taking over the world in 2021—because it’s “similar. to its 1997 creator.” The gamestarring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. That film also focuses on real people being unwitting participants in Satan’s game.” It’s definitely debatable!
Although this will be the first scripted series for Hwang Dong-hyuk’s revolutionary successor Squid game at Netflix, it’s far from Fincher’s only project at the company, whose previous collaborations with the broadcaster include The Mindhunter, House Of Cards, again Love + Death and robots.
Rumors of the director’s involvement with the US-set series Squid game has been circulating since last summer, when The Playlist suggested that Fincher had put his plans on hold Chinatown the prequel series is still on hold for a chance to enter. Last week, Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel) announced his involvement, saying that the new series will be an official series titled. Squid Game: Americagiving the chance for characters from the original series to make a special crossover appearance. According to both sources, UtopiaDennis Kelly may be involved in the series as the head writer—but for now, that’s still a rumor.
