Insider Suggests Backup Center Anthony Davis to Lakers

The Lakers are up 3-0 to start the season, but one thing that could hinder the franchise’s productivity is the absence of a clear center behind Anthony Davis.

Undoubtedly, AD has been absolutely successful to start the season and averaged 34 points, 11 assists, 3.3 rebounds on 57.1 shooting from the field in all three games.

But, if he goes down with an injury, wants to cut back on his minutes, or wants another big to play on the sidelines, who will that be?

Christian Wood is still injured until next week and the player who plays on both sides Christian Koloko also has no clear time to return.

One solution to LA’s question at the center position is to trade for Jazz center Walker Kessler, Lakers insider Jovan Buha said.

“I think Walker Kessler is a name that the Lakers were interested in that I think would make a lot of sense and would allow you to start two looks. Or – maybe if you look at the truth – take him off the bench and play big shifts,” said Buha. Buha’s Block recently. “And in other matchups, close with two bigs; he and AD, apparently. “

This trade proposal by Extreme Sports will see Kessler join the Lakers, but at the cost of their future draft picks.

The Lakers get: Walker Kessler
Get Jazz: Christian Wood, rights to 2027 first round pick (currently top-4 LAL protected) and 2029 first round pick

“Compensation, which is draft money, can be sold to the Lakers, who owe their first pick in 2025 to the Atlanta Hawks in the form of the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers also owe their first round pick in 2027 to the Jazz, limiting what they can trade,” said Josh Buckhalter of Heavy Sports.

“Perhaps removing the protections from that 2027 pick will satisfy the Jazz amid rumors of their asking price for Kessler.
