Search intensifies in Oregon for fugitive accused of luring who has eluded capture in multiple states
Authorities in Oregon are searching for a suspected male sex offender who escaped capture in Idaho and may be dressed as a woman.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon announced Saturday that Christian Bert Fischer, 42, is wanted in Florida for going to meet a minor after using a computer to lure the child.
Officials said Fischer has ties to Southern Oregon and remains on the run after eluding police arrest in Coeur D’alene on Tuesday, October 22.
On the second day of Fischer’s trial in Hernando County, Florida, the US Marshals Service (USMS) said he failed to appear in court and quickly fled the country that same day.

Investigators found that he fled to California, Oregon and, most recently, to northern Idaho. Authorities added that Fischer was using “false names,” and may have been using money and had accomplices pay some expenses while he was on the run.
In North Idaho, the USMS Greater Idaho Fugitive Team found that Fischer had tried to befriend many families in the area, including those with children.

Before crews attempted to arrest Fischer, he was seen carving pumpkins at his last known location in Athol, Idaho, with unknown family.
Investigators have not been able to identify the family at this time and are urging the family or anyone else who may have had contact with Fischer to contact their local USMS office.

Deputies described Fischer as a 5-foot-10, 200-pound white male with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Before heading to Idaho, police say Fischer was in the Portland area. His other known locations were Ashland, Lake of the Woods, and Wolf Creek in June and July.

USMS forces across the country also joined the search for Fischer, including the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force.
Hernando County Crime Stoppers in Florida is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading directly to Fischer’s arrest.
