The 140-pound division is one of the deepest weight classes in boxing, and on Saturday night October 26, former two-time super-lightweight world champion Regis Prograis will face WBC/WBO #2 ranked Jack Catterall.

This is a fight between two boxers who are over 30 years old, and both of them are looking at this fight as a fight for the super-lightweight world title. The action will take place at Co-op Live in Manchester, England, and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
A product of New Orleans, Louisiana, Regis Prograis took to boxing late, but despite his late start, Prograis became a world champion when he defeated Kiryl Relikh by 6th round TKO, and regained the WBA super-lightweight title. April 2019.
Six months later, Prograis would step into the ring and attempt to become the unified champion against Josh Taylor. The match between Prograis and Taylor was an exciting, well-attended match, but unfortunately for Prograis, he lost by majority decision.
The next few years were very sad for Prograis because he was not getting the opportunities he felt he deserved. Finally on the night of November 26, 2022 Prograis was given an opportunity, and he took advantage of it as he defeated Jose Zepeda and won the vacant WBC belt.
Regis Prograis will continue to sign with Matchroom Boxing and have a homecoming fight in New Orleans. Despite a slow exit, Prograis retained his WBC belt when he posted a split decision victory over Danielto Zorrilla.
Six months later, Prograis was set to defend his second world title against the former undisputed world champion. Back in December 2023 Prograis was defeated by Devin Haney as he lost by unanimous decision.
Now 10 months later, Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) is ready to step back inside the ring to showcase his skills and prove he deserves another shot at a world title. Standing in his way is a ring fighter who plans to continue to position himself to face the champion at 140.
During his 10th year as champion, Jack Catterall finally got his chance to fight for the world title when he faced the undisputed 140-pound champion Josh Taylor back in February 2022. In every fight for the undisputed title, South Africa’s Jack Catterall came. his left shot if he likes.
In the 8th round of the bout, Catterll landed an overhand left that sent Josh Taylor down to the canvas. After the match Catterll continued to knock Taylor out, but at the end of 12 rounds, the champion, Josh Taylor was awarded a controversial split decision victory.

Jack Catterall is a ring specialist with a strong jab, good punch placement and good distance control. Catteral excels at using movement to stop his devastating attacks. His opponent, southpaw Regis Prograis, is at his best when he fights on the front foot and lands a dangerous left hand.
Due to the depth of the 140-pound division, this could be a fight where the winner remains eligible and in the hunt, while the loser may have to reevaluate his career as a super-lightweight. Catterll has never won a world title, but Prograis has done it on two separate occasions, and is determined to do so again.
“When I was the world champion, I was like, what’s left to do? “If I don’t have a belt, I’m hungry and I’m back uphill,” said Prograis. “I want to find that again. My goal is to be a three-time champion.”
