The McDonald’s E. Coli outbreak has been linked to a farm in California and will be investigated by the FDA, according to reports.
Taylor Farms, located in Salinas, California, is part of US Foods and supplies McDonald’s with its sliced onions used in its famous Quarter Pounder burger.
MACDONALD’S STRIKE FOR FIRST LAW OVER E. COLI
A statement provided by a Taylor Farms spokesperson to KSBW said, “We test raw and finished products for bacteria and found no traces of E. coli. We have not seen E. coliO157:H7 associated with onions in the past.”
“Out of an abundance of caution, Taylor Farms Colorado has removed from the market yellow onions produced at our Colorado facility. We continue to work closely with the FDA and CDC during this ongoing investigation. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our customers and consumers. and the safety and and the quality of our products.”

While Taylor Farms is headquartered in Salinas, it also has several locations across the country, including one in Colorado Springs.
The CDC recently announced that 49 people have been affected so far since the outbreak, and one death “in an elderly person in Colorado.” 26 affected are in Colorado, 9 in Nebraska.

There are currently ten people hospitalized due to this disease. One 10-year-old child was hospitalized with hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, according to the CDC.
