Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday dodged the question of whether her administration will continue building a wall on the southern border, as illegal immigration and the Biden administration’s border policies continue to rank among voters’ top issues.
Harris was speaking to reporters when asked about the construction of the barrier, which was revealed at a CNN town hall meeting in Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
“I will tell you that my number one priority is to put resources into making sure that our border is secure, and that’s why I’m very clear. I’m going to bring back that bipartisan border security bill as president and make sure it’s brought to my desk so I can sign it into law,” he said before criticizing former President Trump.

“The biggest problem we have right now is that Donald Trump is standing in the way of what would be a proven part of the solution to the biggest problem, that we have a broken immigration system in America, and we need to fix it,” Harris continued.
Harris has repeatedly criticized Trump for his border policies, which have led to a sharp drop in illegal immigration into the United States. Trump ran in 2016 on a promise to build a border wall and make Mexico pay for it, but never did.

“How much of that wall did you build? I think the last figure I saw was about 2%,” Harris said Wednesday.
Harris was asked at a town hall if he agreed to put up $650 million to continue building the border wall, which Harris previously called “stupid.”
“I am committed to delivering that bipartisan bill to continue to strengthen and protect our border. Yes, I am, and I will work across the aisle to pass a comprehensive bill on our broken immigration system,” he responded.
On Thursday, Harris said Trump prefers to run the problem instead of fixing the immigration system.
“I intend to fix the problem in a way that is as close as possible to the solutions that can reach our hands. If we are willing to do it,” he said without answering the question of the border wall.

On the campaign trail and in press interviews, he avoided questions about the border policies of the Biden administration that led to high numbers of illegal immigrants crossing into the US and immigration crimes, preferring to criticize Trump and promote the 2021 bill as evidence that Biden. tried to strengthen US immigration policies before the migrant crisis.
That bill would have opened the way to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
