Barack Obama spoke for all of America, hell, the world when he grilled the poor state of the All-Star game.
The All-Star Game used to be the epitome of sports, where the best players would come together and battle it out.
But now, it has been reduced to almost a training situation, the players don’t try at all, as they are worried about getting injured.
Obama is fed up with it.
“You’ve got to be a little proud of that All-Star game,” Obama said at the time The Young Man and the Three A podcast, once owned by JJ Redick Old Man and Threenow owned by Tommy Alter and the Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton,. “It’s not as if you all don’t play pickup during the summer. He knows how to play like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to hurt anyone, I’m not going to take anyone out.’ But that All-Star Game, it’s broken, man.
“It’s insulting to the game,” he continued. “This is your business. This is your product. You don’t want people to think you’re just out there… Take it seriously. You have to do something because I’m not looking at that anymore.”
The most recent All-Star Game in February was a complete blowout.
The Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference 211–186, which was the most points ever scored by a team in an All-Star Game.
The teams haven’t played much defense and Adam Silver sounds like he’s completely committed to this game being competitive again.
“We’re probably past the point where guys and teams are motivated to play an All-Star game in the middle of the season,” Silver said during an appearance on NBA Countdown in June. “The state of the league.”
