Gervonta Davis has shown contempt for his working-class fans by slamming a resurgent critic on social media, calling him “Lost” because he has a boss telling him what to do.
By choosing to deflect criticism instead of addressing it, Tank avoids the harsh reality. He spent the best years of his career fighting against low-level opposition and his chance to earn money. Tank doesn’t want to be seen as a protected hero, but is there for everyone to see. He can’t hide. The critic reveals the truth, and Tank can’t face it head-on to admit that he’s been protected by his superiors since day one.
This person on social media just told the undefeated WBA champion Tank that he is turning 30 soon and has a baby. Instead of agreeing with the man and striving to do better in the future, Tank (30-0, 28 KOs) insulted him.
Tank’s choice to disrespect his critic shows that he is not confident in his career and realizes that he has fought for a bad place to rebuild his 30-0 game. Ideally, Tank should have agreed with that person and explained why he didn’t face better opposition during his 11-year career.
What Tank shows with his criticism is a lack of maturity to deal with criticism. Unable to accept the truth, Tank explodes in a child-like manner, showing that he is emotionally unable to process what someone has said and respond without the need to attack.
