Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari shared a special moment with one of his photos from the Lakers’ final preseason game before opening night.
Although his childhood hero Steph Curry did not play, the two exchanged words and took a picture together after the game.
Olivari became emotional as he recalled the conversation he had with the Warriors legend during his post-game press conference.
“I don’t even know what to say, man,” Olivari said. “That’s my favorite player. The first thing he told me was, ‘I’m a big fan of your game.’ And truth be told, I’m a huge fan of his.
“I had his jersey (when I was growing up). He signed twice. I slept in that sweater. I just wanted to be like him so badly. Just so I could meet him, he was able to respect me, and so we could talk behind the scenes—he gave me his shoes and signed them. That meant the world to me, man. It just means a lot.”
Curry had another exchange with Olivari later that Friday night in his Instagram post.
“I’m happy bro,” Curry wrote. “Thank you for being a real person and letting me know history!”
Curry also made his own place with Olivari in it. so he returned the favor and commented on this post, “Appreciate u big dawg”.
Olivari was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Lakers this summer after five seasons of college basketball.
