6 Denver bars/pubs with great food

Denver is bursting with brewing operations that use some of the beer’s locally grown ingredients, such as hops and barley. Local distilleries are also booming. While there are many different beers and spirits around the city, the places to stop are those that combine their unique drink offerings with food and, in some cases, evening enrichment activities. Here are six stops that are a combination of the right drinks, food, and more.

Primal Ax House

A well-stocked bar and a unique recreational sports activity make Primal Ax House a great stop in the southern part of town. The bar features local drinks and a special selection of Colorado spirits. The food is perfect for the vibe and the work mixed with charcuterie boards featuring local meats such as apple and gouda sausages and craft paninis. The main attraction is the paths of axes and knives, where you can throw safely and freely. On-site coaches guide those who have never thrown again or those who have thrown before to make the experience enjoyable. Primal is a team/team fun place, as these are skill games that are easy for everyone to participate in.

6 Denver bars/pubs with great food

Six Capital Brewing

Nothing goes with craft beer like a good BBQ, and Six Capital has both on a cruise. They’ve won awards for their fantastic beers, including the Kolsch, the razz-matured Blond, and the classic Altbier. Paired with fried green tomatoes, the taster sample is the perfect way to make your choice one. The BBQ is decorated in the same style as everything is made in house, including sides like pickles, hot peppers, and sauces. Two dishes worth sampling include the Brisket Blue, which takes a whole brisket and adds blue cheese for the perfect sandwich combination. The Barbequeterie Board is a smoked sampler, with a main smoked meat, sausage, and sides like house chili, beer-infused mustard, and craft sauces. For vegetarians, there are BBQ jackfruit tacos and sliders with the same high flavor.

Nation on the Riverwalk

Just south of Denver proper, Tribe on the Riverwalk in Castle Rock is a cosmopolitan bar with exceptional food. The ambience is special, with chairs and tables where real elbow room and personal comfort abound in artistic design. Here, unique craft cocktails control the senses, such as the Orange Julius Margarita. The food is good and smart, starting with a wonderful goat cheese Brulé with pineapple and Italian bread. Another spicy starter is street corn topped with chipotle aioli, cotija, and cilantro. Top Al Pastor Mahi-Mahi with black lentils, bacon, caramelized onions, and pineapple pico de gallo are the ingredients that pair with the wicked cocktails.

Everything you need to plan your trip in 2024

Cherry Creek Food Hall

This food hall bar is huge as it moves and zags across most of the food hall. A good selection of local beers, with their own brewery, and elbow room if you want to spread out. The counter is deep enough to act as a table, so you can hit one of the food options and then go back to the bar and eat. A few steps away from one end of the bar is the game room for group parties and more fun. Salty Breeze has the best lobster roll in the area. Hatchet Wood Fire Kitchen makes artisan pizzas that complement any bar offering. Two outdoor seating areas expand your options for kicking back.

Prost Brewing

If you must drink and eat like a German, Prost is your place in Denver. Each of the three areas, including North (family), Central (superpower), and South (central Oompa), has a different character, but beer and schnitzel is the Wunderbar. Expect a German beer hall where you can order the real heritage of Deutschland beer. Dunkel is a malty classic, while their Schwarzbier has the right hints of chocolate and coffee at this dark level. The best way to decide what will fill the stein is a plane paired with a meaty sausage board or pretzel-zilla. Seating ranges from a quiet area by the food station to a more lively area near the bar, then full entertainment with an outdoor Biergarten area, complete with bands, fire pits, and even the occasional pet.

Celtic In The Market

Smack in the middle of downtown Denver, and a short walk to all the sports venues, is this Irish Pub & Restaurant. Celtic ticks all the boxes, including off-track betting, football fan clubs, and proper catering. The top bar is sturdy and comfortable; relax at the bar or relax on the couches. Go two punches with an Irish drink and a regular air gun, then hit the spot with chicken pot pie, fish and chips, or bangers & mash. The lower level focuses on horses, soccer, and Formula One depending on the day’s schedule, and is a meeting place for team parties and fan clubs. It’s an Irish hoot all over the wild midwest.
