12 ways to avoid staying in a bad hostel in 2025

I love Hostels. Even after nine years on earth, I still live in hostels because this is the best way to meet people and the world’s world cheaper.
But what makes a good Hostel?
And how you avoid a bad Hostel?
After living in over a thousand hostels since I started traveling the world, I already repented, “Let’s open a Hostel. It sounds fun.”
While people talking about people, the management can do a few things to make their hostel to make your experience better. Certain features make a hostel remembers (common rooms, group activities, kitchens) while others make them forget – the buttock (typical stick, common staff).
All my favorite hostels Share the common features that make them better in the world.
Here’s the dement that I wanted in the Hostel to help you choose the best of your next trip:
1. Is there a regular room?
I love meeting new people when I go. As I usually go, I need to go out and meet people if I want to be a community. Common rooms in hostels make it easy. They helped me find people to talk to them, find advice from, doing jobs, or even walking with them.
And, they’re good for fun. They usually have pool tables or videoto consoles, TV / movies (ready for rain days), foosball, ping pong, make sure that you live elsewhere with normal (or fewer). It is the best place for easier to communicate with other travelers.
In warm areas, a common place outside and the big plus. Puts, pials, BBQ places, Lake – any external social space.
2. is available in the center?
Location, Location, Place. Whenever I want a new Holf I’m sure it is close to things I want to see. I don’t want to spend all my time going when I get to a new place. For that reason, I always make sure that my hostels are in the center and close public transportation. That way, I can get easily travel and don’t need to worry about spending money on taxis.
This is very important in big cities where things are spreading and when it is a short journey and past. Yes, they can cost more money, but will save money to travel. The hostels in the middle area is often popular, making them better places to meet people.
Don’t waste your holiday on the go; Book in a central place!
3. Is it clean?
Certainly, the budget travelers like cheap things – but that does not mean that we love pornography. While the hostels arrived too far in recent years, there is still many who are not fully cared for. Since Illness is easy, avoid unclean hostels. Perfect bathrooms and exhibitions (and the increased risk of bed bugs) are not worth the accident – even if the hostel is cheaper. Plant yourself. You deserve a clean room!
As photographed hostels send to their website and mock social media, make sure you read the updates directly on sites such as Hosteltworld. If just one person complains, maybe not a big deal. But if many updates talk about the lack of cleanness, take that as a time.
4. Did you read updates?
Always read updates before booking. Is Hostle silent or noisy? Was Hostle of Party or over Restarted? Did mattress say? Is hot beds suck? You can usually answer all these questions (and much more) by reading the review.
Websites such as HostelWorld and bookshakes – A tons of reviews that help you find a hostel that fits your budget requirements.
While you will want to take the salt (people like complaining), they are definitely benefited when it comes to getting the best hotel. Make sure you leave updates and – Good review helps hostels grow and bad reviews can warn your travelers so they do not make the same mistake.
Additionally, make sure you live in hotels for many updated. Hostel may have a higher rate in Hosteltorld but if it has 10 or 20 updates then I will stay away (easy to measure such a false balance). However, if the Hostel has hundreds (or thousands) for review and still It has 8 or 9 of the 10 of 10 so that is a good sign is a firm place to live.
Usually, I try to book only 8 or more rating of Hosteltorld.
5. Did they plan group activities?
If you plan to stay in the social hostel and want to meet people, select the hostel that offers group activities. This can visit (my favorite job), Pub Crawls, Trivia Nights, Coming Classes, or BBQs. These events are a great way to meet other travelers and learn where you go.
My favorite hostels live in a social hostel that organizes events. It just makes your stay very fun and fun!
6. Is there anything out late?
Never stay in the hostel for a time to get out before 10am. The best hostels have times out of 11am, and the best lets you check in the afternoon. Sleep is important for the road because it will not close that. Hostels have late out times understand this and often roused areas. There is just wrong with the hostel asking you full and out of the morning.
7. Is there a bar?
The bars are responsible for breaks and there are many beautiful hostels without it, but makes a good place to entertain other guest guests. Usually if the Hostel contributes, they focus on ensuring that people live in entertainment, communication, and holiday.
If you want to have social and meet people, you will want to live elsewhere.
8. Do they have key locks?
It’s amazing, but I have hostels don’t give locks or you will charge you. In this day and age, lockers should be better. You should not pay for safety. This breaks money from me (especially since I electronically). Always bring the key with you, so you can use keys when provided.
9. Is there a kitchen?
Try looking at the Hostels with kitchens as you can prepare your food, reduce your food budget, and share food with your new friends. Nothing ties up to close people than the shared food (and a few glasses of wine).
10. Did they give breakfast?
Look for a good breakfast (ie, more than the bread and cheese) or at least one starts and ends when people are actually 8:30 I was late). Breakfast is also a great way to load the simplest day, to cut your food budget.
11. Do they have POD style beds?
They have gone sleeping days in dueky, metal instruments. If possible, look for Hotel with POD style beds. These beds provide much better privacy and drag your audio to get to bed better. They usually have curtains with it, living in the Big Plus in my book.
12. Are there some lights and some lights?
Before booking, find out that Dorm bunks have their appearance. Not only this will ensure that you can charge your devices without fighting for space, but it means that your travels can light their small lamp instead of a big lightlight. (I hate when people open the lamps in the middle of the night. Use your bed light or torch!)
I do not need a Hostel to have all these things, but a really nice Hotel understands what hospitals want to have the most items written above.
In addition, as many and many people change work far, hostels have begun to accommodate long-term travelers working in their laptops. If you are a distant employee, the hostels are a good place to live as they have a fast Wi-Fi fast and make it easy to connect and communicate with other digital Mads. However, if you don’t work online while traveling, avoid the hostels as most people will just be on their laptops working with that tiring type if you don’t. Instead, live in a hostel to the background. It will be more interesting and you will be good time to meet people.
Finally, what you really did with a beautiful hotel for people and even the worst hostels will be great when you meet good people. But to remove people from the equation, I look at hostels with some of the above traits. Hostels know what you want as a traveler when developing your experience of travel, not just taking money from you to get a bed. I would love to live in a place to make sure I have a good time.
